Did the 2 day and 1 evening trip. Our guide was annoying,found the churches and palaces not up to expectations. Guide gave us information that was not factual.

Travelling on ships visa, took a bus excursion on first morning then back to ship for lunch, Ship empty at this time very good. Second day, as above took a short trip on the river Neva, very good

If you go to the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg you may see a hallway lined with portraits of military figures. These were painted at the bequest of the Czar and represent all his officers that fought to defeat Napoleon. The black ones represent officers that died fighting the French

I loved the Winter Palace, Peterhof and Cathrine's Palace. From there and the small book I bought I became acquainted with a piece of the Russian history -- the most important part before the Revolution.

Went to my first ever Ballet. Swan Lake was absolutely brilliant, a great experience one I will never forget. The shops at the port are great with some great little gifts and trinkets to take home.

Other than what the tour could offer, I found the visit to St Petersburg not as accommodating for individual exploration of the city.
