Lived every moment if Russia... people were lovely and helpful.. great guild as we did 2 excursions here.. defo do the ships excursion as you get priority off the boat first thing..

Night at the Hermitage is a must. Great guide Eugenia. She made everything story interesting and pretty to look at. No crowds. Only our group in each room. Like a private tour. Cathedrals tour. Beautiful. Guide not as experienced. Watch for pick pockets. We saw them at Spilled Blood Cathedrale watching for easy preys.

Two excursions. Catharines Palace, and Peter and Paul, lunch and Hermitage. Worthwile. Guides speaking very good English. Not enough free time.

Did the two day grand tour with. Alla tours excellent choice saw all the main attractions and didn’t feel it was too strenuous . Also visited ballet with the same company

- You need to do a tour to even get off the boat but you need one anyway. We did with Viator and saved 50% verses NCL. - Packages are usually 2 days (that is needed for city). You can do night ballet but we didn’t and glad since expensive (so do in Wisconsin) and we were exhausted after 8 hour tour. - Saw Catherine Palace (which is beautiful). Once again cruise/private tour had special access that saved hours verses commoners. - Saw Gardens of Peterhof which is great but a lot of walking to see it all. - Day 2 saw Hermitage (huge art museum) on it’s day off (Mondays) so the few ship tours had free run of the place and it was AWESOME! - Took cruise on 40 person boat in river which is nice. They have wool blankets you can use incase cold. - Ate at some place in city. Entire cruise port was build and run by mafia. All tours are with them so tourist trapish but no other options.

Tour guides were terrific here. Didn't need a script or have to refer to notes. Spoke English well, and have a lot of info about Russian life today.

The best port visit. The tours were great. The people were amazing and friendly. If possible book smaller more personal tours for best experience.

Nice place to visit with a tour but I would never want to live there. We used Alla tours for a 2 day tour and our guide was excellent and took care of all the tickets etc. Many sights were very crowded
