We took a 2 day excursion we booked through Viator. We saw lots of spectacular buildings and museums, but the tour guide was not good. She had lots of knowledge which she told us in a steady stream, but she was very focused on getting to as many things as possible in a tight timeline, and threatened us that if we did not keep up with her, we would have no time for lunch. I would certainly not recommend this tour to anyone, though the sights are worth seeing. The write up from Viator was not what we got on the tour.

No regrets about going, but the somberest of all the ports of call. Maybe it is the history of the place, or the great divide between rich and poor. It is worth seeing all those landmarks once, but it is not the top of my list for places to revisit. That said, don't miss it, and don't go independently. Take a tour. it is too spread out. Our tour guides, both days, were terrific.

This was where I have always wanted to go and the weather definitely cooperated. Loved it. If we had any complaints it would be the quality of the theatre where I saw the ballet and we were pretty tired at the end so the canal trip was a bit of a let down. Wish the 2 day trip had included both Catherine and Peter's palaces as we had to make up our own 2 day excursions. Our guide on the first day, Margarita, was excellent. The second day guide less so. The meal on the first day at the Holiday Inn was terrible!!!! Would have liked to have gone in the Church of the Spilled Blood as we ended up having to shop across the street from it on both days. Felt rushed at the Hermitage. Would have liked to have gone there with a guide and then be able to roam at leisure.

Took 2 tours - one by bus and a walking tour on the 2nd day. Enjoyed both very much even though there was some overlap of sights. The tour guides were very good, but the bus tour guide was excellent -- expert knowledge of the city, the art in the Hermitage, and life in St, Petersburg. Outstanding.

Did a private car through the ship. Dont waste your time with the shopping and I am a shopaholic!! Very interesting city. We did the Pushkin palace that was beautiful, worth the money although it takes 2 hrs to get there because of the traffic, the dinner was below average and they nickle and dime you for everything.,, they wanted 2 euros for butter for the dry bread. Also we did a private car the next day to St peterholf again the traffic was 1 1/2 to get there... with the cars being 450 dollars for 4 hrs was kind of rushed.

Catherine's Palace, Hermitage, Canal Cruise--so much to do and we enjoyed all of the excursions at this port. The tour of the Hermitage was a bit too long (over 3 hours, tons of people and very hot inside). Of course, you could spend weeks there alone!
