By far hands down best port ever! We didn’t do an excursion. We walked the streets and meet the most amazing people. Stop by the cafe where JK Rowling started to write Harry Potter. The buildings blew my mind how old and beautiful they are. You must see the Edinburgh Castle. So much history! I could take another trip to Scotland and stay longer in Edinburgh. So much to see and not enough time to see it all.

On our stop here we got the train across the river over the forth rail bridge to North Queensferry and walked down to Deep Sea World (my daughters love aquariums). We didn’t go to Edinburgh, as we have been there many times before. Mainly for Rugby at Murrayfield (stadium tours are available if you like that sort of thing). There is lots to potentially do from this port. Get the train into Edinburgh, an amazing city, u can walk around yourself, get on the hop on hop off buses, go see the castle, princess gardens & so much more. Go north over the river into fife & see the country a little. Go west and see ‘The Kelpies’ at Grangemouth, or Falkirk Wheel. All of these areas are fairly easily accessible from here as well as from the port at Greenock. Whatever you do, enjoy!

There is an hidden path to Dalmeny train station down the road, to the left of the pier. It is an easy ride into Edinburgh on the train. The Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh Castle, and area around Victoria Street are worth a visit. Back in South Queensferry, it is a nice walk up High Street to see the quaint town.

One of my favorites, OK you have to tender but a great location. There can be long queues for the transfer into Edinburgh, get together with some other people and share a taxi, or if you're keen on walking, the railway station is about twenty minute fast walk away - 45 minutes if you're slow! You can catch a train across the Forth Rail Bridge - and back into Edinburgh. Decent service.
