Did not do an excursion. Should have. Walked around on our own. Took the 382 bus to the train, the train into the city, and then reversed it back. It was an interesting walk. The cathedrals were beautiful, but the surrounding areas were a bit...hmm...interesting! Pretty in some areas, not so in others. Do the ships excursions and save yourself a disappointing day on your own.

Yes. Because of the late start (1pm instead of 9:30am) we were rushed through the city. There was little stopping . My wife was embarrassed by the tour guide when she asked if there would be facilities somewhere along the way. The guide gave her a somewhat disgruntled look and asked her if she couldn't hold it until we got to the canal boat which had facilities. The walking part of the tour was 2 hours. Fortunately other members of the tour also expressed the same request so the guide "relinquished" and indicated there were places we could stop. We basically flew through the tour and were not able to enjoy what we were receiving a glimpse of. At one point a member of our tripped and fell. A young Amsterdam fellow rushed to help the woman up. The guide came up to the woman and instead of asking her how she was, the guide's words were "I told you about the unevenness of the street."

The time here was too short as it required a 90 minute bus ride to the city.

Walked about town on our own. Wished I had taken a tour out of the city. Amsterdam was dirty and nasty.

We found out upon arriving at Southampton that this port was cancelled. This was one of the main reasons we booked this ship.

This was a difficult port to reach. No trains go here you will have to arrange transport and it will be approximately 80 Euro

Took the bus into Harrlem which was a big center for the resistance during WWII. It was Sunday so much was closed. Did a Canal tour and toured the church.

All of our other excursions ere very good, however, our Amsterdam tour was cancelled and could not join another excursion that day because they were filled up. All the taxis tripled their fares to be $200 dollars each way into Amsterdam. That was appalling!

The was the embarkation and disembarkation port. It was very far out of Amsterdam (there is a cruise port in Amsterdam), the terminal was rustic and they did not have indoor storage for luggage. It was raining (which it does frequently) so our cloth luggage got wet.
