We went to Lucca and Pisa on first day in Tuscany. Lucca was great Tuscan hill town, we strolled the rampart and did a walking tour of the city. Delicious food. Made a stop by Pisa on the way back to the ship. Next day went to Volterra by rental car. This was a fantastic choice...Etruscan, Roman ruins, Medieval towers. Best food, pici with ragu and wine from Montepulicano with dessert of cantucci and Vin Santo.

We did the excursion to Florence and Pisa. Absolutely amazing; but once again, short on time.

We did a private tour which is not that cheap but was worth it as we had time to see Pisa and Portofino and enjoy a fantastic lunch at the famous Splendido hotel. we even had an Olive Oil tasting mini lecture

Took the shuttle bus to Livorno...nothing to see or do there really we then took a shuttle bus from Livorno to Pisa. We loved Pisa! Everyone said not to go but we thought is was a fun little place and had a picnic on the lawn against the fortress wall in the shade. Would recommend renting a car to meet you at the port and then driving to Lucca and then to Pisa and then back to the ship. Our friends did that and had a wonderful day biking around underground tunnels and the town of Lucca and then Pisa to see the tower!
