Florence was great, but the tour we took was so-so. The tour was booked through the ship and it was both expensive and crowded. Florence was also very, very crowded, adding to the discomfort of the experience. Our tour guide had a very heavy accent and was somewhat hard to understand. In addition, she had some trouble responding to questions about some of the art and other cultural features in Florence.

Definitely need to take a shore excursion. The sites are quite far away 45 min. to 1 1/2 hours. Definitely worth the price of the tour.

The best tour of all was the highlights of Florence...Unfortunately it’s an abundance of walking and hard to keep up with the tour guide due to the crowds... not enough time to fit in Pisa.

This is the port that they threw me off at. The neurologists at the local hospital were actually quite good but their English was as bad as my Italian. If you travel RCCL make sure you speak the language of each of the countries that you are going to visit, in case they decide to strand you in one of them.
