Took the local train to Santa Margharita and then a bus to Portifino. Saved a lot of money and gave us more time in each city. Due to the warm weather the kids also swam in the mediterranean at one of the local beaches. The train system was very efficient and easy to follow and gave you enough choices to get back to port on time. Can even buy tickets in advance on the internet.

Lots of things to do here, from cultural to scenery. We chose a boat trip to the beautiful fishing village of Portofino .... what a hidden gem! Had lots of time on our own here (a nice break from following the tour guides around, I must admit). Allow time to hike up to the Church; it’s a pretty steep walk in places, but worth it for the panoramic views. Great port!,

Excursion to Portofino proved to be one of the highlights. I can't beleive places like this really exist. Never did get to see Genoa and I kind of regret that.

we took a Princess excursion to Portafino, Santa Margherita and Rapallo. the tour guide was wonderful, and the stops were beautiful, charming and picturesque. They had the charming sidewalk cafes, homes nestled into the hills, with beautiful flowers cascading over the balconies. Everything you would expect in small Italian towns.
