You spend 3 hours in a car just to get to and from Rome. Make sure you buy any tickets in advance so you can skip the lines...which are very long everywhere!

There is so much to see here, it is impossible to see it all. Definetely worth whatever tour you are going on.

Spent several days before the cruise in Rome to see it all. We booked our transport to and from the cruise & airport through Ground Link private care service.

Azamara is not the least bit helpful in helping passengers that want individual transport after cruise.

Long wait for packed shuttle buses. Then another wait for public bus to train station/rental car area. Preparation explanations from ship staff would have been helpful.

One of the most wonderful cities in the world !!! No excursion here. We took the train to Rome and then hired a taxi around Rome and the Vatican. My husband uses a wheelchair and this was such a comfortable way for us to visit Rome !! What a fantastic city. We saw the Coliseum, the Vatican, St Peter, Piazza Venezia, and more statues than you can count.

History and buildings worth the visit. We leaned the hard way when having lunch to ask for all charges before ordering and an itemized bill. Watch around the Square.

Took the train to rome and bought a ticket to a "hop on hop off" bus. It was very hot so sightseeing was hard

The bus to Rome was well worth the money but be careful of cabbies who like to run up the meter taking you on a tour instead of directly to the hotel. Try the Metro (if you don't mind standing). People very friendly and tried hard to understand our English. The Police at the Vatican, however, were extremely rude and unhelpful.
