At this port in the past the train was close, 4 blocks. This time it left you close to a mile. Pay the 7 euro for a round trip or take a cab with a group. Train ride is about an hour. Planned strip to the catacombs with Viatour. Know what you want to see when you go here. Trevor fountain etc....

Visited a few churches which were beautiful. Saw the Vatican and the square. Their is much to see but not enough time to see it all and very crowded.

We spent 2 days before we got in the boat. We did skip the lines for the coliseum and the Vatican. It was worth it

Our excursion to Rome was wonderful, so much to see. Our guide was lovely, she explained as much as she could about the buildings and history. My wife and I wanted to see the Trevi fountain but being disabled and having difficulty walking, I was unable to walk to the fountain in the time provided for sight seeing. Our guide took us to a taxi rank, asked the driver to take us, wait and return us back to the same place. This was out of her way , very thoughtful lady. Stunning place to visit

Watch the taxi pimps on debarkation. They will lie and tell you that it is 3 or 4 trains to get to FCO and will take you 4 hours on a Sunday. There is one chance of train, and unless there is a strike (in which case the trains will not be running) it will take about 90 minutes.

We had a bus trip from the ship into the centre of Rome and left for the full day to do whatever we liked. Really long day but we visited plenty of places as we used the hop on, hop off open top buses to get around and see places like the Colosseum and Vatican City but again, watch out for the “lucky lucky” men.

We stayed three extra days in Rome, which I feel was necessary in order to see everything. We got our own hotel and transportation, independent of Princess, so I'll just say that the disembarkation process was seamless.
