Got Shore tour into Rome. Small explanations on the way and then 3 hours own time. We had been to Rome before so this suited us.

Again my 2nd time in Rome. And again I did the RC excursion Taste of Rome. Excellent guide and really enjoyed our time in Rome. Florence and Rome were the only excursions I did through RCI but I didn’t want to risk being left behind when the ship left port.

Make sure to leave the ship early, it takes about 3 hours round trip from the port to travel into Rome and back to port. About 20 people almost missed the ship because the transfer from the train station to the bus station, not enough bus was available. Keep track of time.

Once you get out of the port and head into Rome, it’s great. Take in the Colosseum, the Vatican museums, and spend a little time in Rome.

We did the best if rome. The colosseum was worth a visit obviously didn't go in as only had 1hr there but got good pictures. Too many pushy people trying to sell you tickets or jewelry which was annoying. Tivoli fountain ⛲ was a disappointment as we went on a monday and is closed for cleaning and emptying so wasnt on. But the town is really nice. St pauls was not really my thing but oh well

Again, very hot. We went to Roma on our own, we would have seen more without our teens, who were just not wanting to be in that heat!!

We did The Best of Rome tour. It was very interesting but they now make the tour buses park far from the sites so there is a lot of walking. We love Rome, but next time we’ll skip the tours and walk in our own.

Note: it is about two hours of travel between Civitavecchia and Rome. Take a tour in this city unless you have been here before. So much to see in a very short time.

Rome is about 1 to 1.5 hours away from the ship. We stayed at in Rome for a day and a half prior to getting on the ship and enjoyed a food walking tour. There is a lot to see in Rome. It would be best to arrive early before your cruise or stay a few days after.
