Disappointed with the town at top of the cliffs. Cable car 12 Euro return but worth it to not having to walk up or use the poor donkeys. Town was half closed and very expensive. In the restaurants a bowl of soup was between 12 and 15 euros. Bought cheaper in a five star hotel. Also thought the town was very shoddy.

We first went up to the village by cable (funicular). It was a lovely place to see the panoramic view of the town and shop around. Visit to Oia is very tempting. By taxicab, it was E40.00 (RT) by bus about E1.20 only. We are not sure if there might be buses coming back, so we did not attempt to go. I wish that there will be a regular RT bus to Oia, so visitors (especially from cruise line) can visit the town without fear of not being able to get the bus ride back to the ship on time.

One of the most interesting and pretty places we have ever seen. We could have spent additional hours there just looking around. The included tour and guide were great. Would have liked to spend another hour or so in the shopping areas.

The logistics of tendering 2800 passengers to this small isalnd, the majority of them rushing to the cable car to reach the village is too demanding for the capacity to address, not counting the fact that 3 others ships were in port. Too long time wa spent waiting to be able to get to shore. Once there, we had to wait about one hour to get on the cable car. Not being able to join a tour, if we had known we would have stayed on the ship and not even attempted to go to the shore.
