Rhodes was surprisingly exciting. I didnt expect much of it, its mostly an old ruin town....but it was beautiful, charming, lots to see and shop for and great places to eat.

Rhodes is a hidden gem in the Greek Isles. There is lots of history here and great architecture due to its close proximity to Turkey (and in the past the Ottoman Empire). Even if the colossus is long gone it is still a great island to visit. My wife and I went on an excursion to Tsampika Beach which is about 40 minutes away from the port. The beach itself was not crowded at all and plenty of room for all those that came. There was a bar/restaurant on the beach which was nice to be about to get a quick snack after swimming for a few hours. There are also water sports at Tsampika, we did the “Crazy Sofa” which was amazing fun! Later in the day we went back to the Old Town and walked around the city sightseeing. Many old churches which were very interesting to see, I love the fact there are many cats that wonder the Old Town, it gave a cute charm. There are man excellent options for meals in the Old Town and I must say the Greek food was the best here in Rhodes then anywhere else we had it! Rhodes is a hidden gem in the Greek Isles, give it a chance, you will not be disappointed!

We took a private excursion of Rhodes with one other couple from the ship. It was called Full Day Tour of Rhodes and Lindos with Rhodes Taxi & Limos Rhodes Private Tours. We got to see the Acropolis of Rhodes and the incredible Acropolis of Lindos. We walked to the top at Lindos which is quite a hike, but worth the sights and view. Rhodes has many beautiful beach coves and our tour stopped a three of these. Lunch was seaside at the lovely Seafood Greek Restaurant. The end of the day was left for us to explore the old, walled city of Rhodes on our own.

Rhodes was really lovely. Spent the morning walking around the old town fortress and the afternoon exploring the more modern part outside the fortress and went to the beach. For 8 euros a person we lounged on the beach on lovely day beds.
