Great port. Just beware of the carpet sales people they can be quite pushy. Don’t knock the hustle just be firm or they will get you. Turkey is now a love of mine. This port was a surprise and I loved it.

A must see with a guide, as there are stories behind the many ancient ruins, including the death place of Mary, mother of Jesus. We used toursbylocals.com. We loved our tour guide, Zeynep. Fun and professional.

A surprised enjoyment here. I got to got to Jesus' mother' house. Yes the Virgin Mary home on Mothers Day. We also visited John the Baptist grave. The ruins of Ephesus is the best place on the planet. The ancient Library, houses, Stadiums and the likes Was amazing. Who knew that Turkey could be so exciting.

This was the highlight stop of the trip--Ephesus! We purchased a shore excursion through CheapCruises & used the voucher they provided, which cut the price in half. It was a wonderful and intimate (6 people) walk through the ancient city & ruins of St John's basilica with our knowledgable guide (Rose, in english; don't remember her proper Turkish name). Lunch was in a large garden outside a carpet shop. Food was excellent and the setting very relaxed. The carpet-making explanation was fascinating and impressive. We were not in the market for a carpet and are happy to say the sales pitch was not high-pressure, even though we were the last cruise ship of the season.
