Seeing Olympia was fantastic. It was so cool to see the place where the Olympics began and where the torch is lit every year. We didn't even have time to go in to Katakolon but it appeared that it was just some shops similar to the ones in Olympia, so we didn't feel like we miss anything.

George's Taxi service was an excellent way to see the peninsula. Reserve ahead. Pay cash, in any currency. Port town shops are for tourists only -- ope ONLY when cruise ships are in port. Olympia shops are also for tourists, but prices were not bad. Again, carry Euro cash.

Beautiful coves and scenery along the sea. It was surreal to walk among the ruins of an ancient civilization.

No excursion taken. Suffers by comparison to other ports, although enjoyable break. Lots of souvenir & clothing shops within walking distance of the docks. Prices were reasonable. The whole town near the docks had the feel of a Mexican border town without so many bars.

Quite a small place, most people go to Olympia (not very impressive, after having been to Athens). Took the little train to the beach only 6 Euros, would highly recommend.

Katakolon itself is nothing, but to get to Olympia you have to take other forms of transportation.

I am still amazed that the ruins are as in a good condition that they are.

We stayed local and had a walk around the shops and had a drink in one of cafes on the waterfront. We also took a horse and cart ride, which was took us along the beach and around the local houses, but didn't really show us much more of the area, this was 5 euro per person.
