You dont need to book an excursion I struggled with getting an excursion booked for this port. I was worried I would miss out! This being my second time here and my 1st visit I had done the rainforest walk which was beautiful but dang hot and humid. If you're up for that by all means, book it. However, I decided to just explore on our own. We had a group of 7 (9,11,35,37,40,41 and 63) other than the rain that was actually so bad a times we looked like we got out of the shower fully dressed, it was an enjoyable walk about old san juan. Going up and through the beautiful cobblestone/brick streets and up to the old fort. I warn you to go in the fort they charge $7.00 pp . They have walking tours that you can pay for but there are tidbits of information on signs throughout. You're not going to get all the info a tour would give but you get to do this at your leisure. We stopped in a few stores learning about tanzanite jewelry and we found the starbucks! Beautiful little town that you can view on your own

This was our favorite. Nice people. We did the BioBay kayak trip with Kayaking Puerto Rico tour company and would highly recommend them. They had great customer service.

We stayed in an Airbnb and then took an Uber to the ship. Flew in the day before and went dancing at La Placita. Great times!

Ship docks in Old San Juan. We did our own thing, walked to San Cristobal fort and paid $7 each to tour the fort. It's huge, and has lots of different interesting areas and things to see. We spent a long time there and really enjoyed it. Our entrance fee would have gotten us into El Morro fort as well, but a short rain shower happened so we headed into town area and shopped. We saw the "umbrella" street - really neat! Did some souvenir shopping, and stopped at a cafe for some drinks and chips/queso. Had a great day and wished we had more time there. Easy to do on your own & easy walking.

Bus tour of old and new San Juan. Was great $15 per person and our 5 year old was free! We had a few rain showers so this was great! Got free wifi at Starbucks then did some tours of the forts and caught the free trolly.

Beautiful country. We went out of downtown to a former sugar cane plantation that is now a place to ride ATV's, zip lines, horses, etc. I'd be interested to return to experience some of the culture.

Stayed on the boat. Seemed like the only thing to do in San Juan within walking distance was shopping. Not looking to purchase anything. Enjoyed a lazy day on the ship.
