Pushy vendors...didn't buy anything but a name bracelet from one vendor that wasn't being a pain. Took a $17.00 on Chu-Chu train tour through what I guess you can call town. Didn't have to pay cash. They took it off our sail&sign card but it was terrible. Rough area had police everywhere. There was nowhere to even want to stop at

The Taino cave paintings were incredible. The downtown market area is overwhelming, but if you venture away, there are nice internet bars not too far away.

I was impressed with how they have made the cruise ship terminal much better, and have made a point of cleaning up all the trash on the sides of the roads .

Port is in an industrial area. If you do not do an excursion there is nothing to see just outside the port area. They did have vendors just outside the duty/tax free shop. One was a Mojito stand that we visited. When had visited on in St Marrten on a previous cruise, so we stopped and bought one here. $3 for the drink and for $5 you could double the alcohol. We did that. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! The rum was so watered down that with even a double shot, you could not taste it. I took half of it back and told them it was the most watered down rum I had ever tasted and they excitedly told me that they would give me better liquor. I walked away.

Loved the port and the tour was all about baseballs and a beautiful resort.

We purchased an excursion to Altos de Chavon and river boat cruise. Bus ride to replica of 16th century Mediterranean village overlooking lush river. Huge stone amphitheater. Nice art shops. Old chapel. Our guide and his helpers were great. He was passionate about his homeland. Local rum with coke was free flowing on the river cruise! Fun but crowded on large pontoon boat. Still had a good time.
