This was our favorite stop on this cruise. We did the Outback Adventure (Puerto Plata) excursion. Absolutely loved it!! Our guide, YOKY, and driver, Daniel, were informative and fun. They kept the open bar going at every stop. We got to try their rum, Presidente beer and a delicious Bohemian beer. We stopped at a plantation where we got to see, smell, and taste all the wondrous things that grow there. The group was then shown how they make coffee and hot cocoa. Samples of both were given. After that we went on back roads, small dirt paths, to the school. We toured the school and were given some insight on how they operate. This was fairly brief but not much to see. Kids were on spring break when we went. To conclude the day, we were taken to a beach where massages and beach loungers to relax were included in the Outback excursion. YOKEY and DANIEL brought the bar out to the beach so that was available as well. Highly recommend this excursion while in Amber Cover. Great way to safely explore and experience some of the culture.

I highly recommend Sousa beach - it’s about half an hour taxi drive from the port - on the way there you get an in depth look at the small towns and the local way of life - once at Sousa beach it’s lined with palm trees and a beach that’s not crowded and simply breathtaking! Vendors line the beach with restaurants and bars and small stores and if u find the right store owner they will cook u up one of the best sea food lunches you’ve ever had !!! I can’t say enough good about Sousa beach - it’s worth your time !!!

The Damajugua waterfall excursion was money well spent. Hike is more like steps in the woods, interesting cacti fence lines. After the initial entry into the water, it felt amazing!

Port was friendly. We did a self guided tour with a taxi driver who took us to Casa Colonial Hotel for lunch....waited for us while we dined and then continued our island tour. We could stop where we wanted for as long as we desired. Definitely the way we will tour again since we were not hauled around like cattle on a bus.

We did horseback riding and ziplining. It was great! We even purchased great photos that they took of us while doing these activities for only $40. So much fun!

We didn’t book an excursion at this port in hopes that we could explore on our own and we kind of did. I would say skip the hustle and bustle of spending the $10 a drink in the port and head out of the port. If you can catch a taxi for $10-$15 to take you to the left of the port (private) beach then go for it. The Coronas were $5 each and our server Ramona the as super attentive. It’s a bit of a walk like 20 minutes but it’s worth the walk. It’s about a 2 minute drive. Oh and if you have sensitive feet to the rocks then you may want some water shoes.

Booked carnival excursion classic cars to tour the city. What a great tour in a 1966 dodge charger dart convertible for the day . Had ur own driver and private car.
