We loved this port. We purchased an excursion to Ocean World with dolphin encounter. Our family truly enjoyed this day. We have 18, 16, 13, and 3 yr old and they all had a great time! I think our surprise favorite part past the dolphins was the bird cages. They were amazing and we all really enjoyed that. We were able to hit every part of this park in the 5 hrs except the VIP beach which I think we would have to pay extra for. We also got great family photos in digital format. Love, love, loved our time at Ocean World!

Big fans of the Dominican Republic. The ship took us to Amber Cove. There pier is really long, but the locals have bikes with little carriages behind you can hop on and they'll take you to the end of the pier. They only ask for tips. This was fun. There were drummers playing music from above the Amber Cove sign. It was a very welcoming environment. We did the all inclusive Coconut Cove or Coconut Bay (I can't remember). This was a long, bumpy ride down a dirt road - about 45 minutes, seriously. But you got to see the beautiful countryside. Cows, horses, pigs... chickens..... Yes, it was a bumpy ride, but worth it for sure. The beach here was awesome. Chairs were already set up and one of the locals was quick to bring an umbrella. Locals were there to teach you how to paddle board or kayak if you wanted. There was a monkey there that you could get your picture with. They took my picture and sold me three pics for $20. They didn't print them - just gave me a cd. There was a language barrier but I later heard someone ask if they could just pay them to take a pic with their own camera and they did it. I wish I would've thought of that. Oh well. So here's something important to know - the sand is very loose here.... so when you walk into the water, you sink A LOT. And there are waves rolling in - not huge waves, but it was not easy getting out of the water. There was also some stuff floating in the water. It wasn't slimy seaweed. They called it some kind of leaf. It wasn't gross, but there was a lot of it. You could easily go further down the beach to get away from it. There were people zip-lining all around us. For the all inclusive people, they have certain drinks you can have and certain food - or you can order from the menu. The drinks were small, but they would give you how ever many you wanted. The ladies bathroom was weird. The toilets didn't flush. There was a lady in there with buckets that she was dumping in the toilets after each person went. The hubby said the mens wasn't like that. You don't have to do an excursion at Amber Cove. We heard there was a pool right off the pier with a swim up bar. You don't, however, get to see the Dominican Republic going this route.

Dominican Republic Port was great! We got off the ship and were directed to our spot for the Monkey Jungle excursion. It was very informative and interesting! We had a great time learning about the country. The excursion was 5 hours long so be prepared and wear comfortable shoes. Julio was fabulous on the truck ride!

DR was amazing! We did the Damajagua Falls and Monkeyland Excursions. Totally recommend, however the walk up the falls is pretty strenuous. They will stop for breaks on the way up, but once you get up there it's such an amazing experience. The monkeys at monkeyland were adorable! They jump all over you and I just loved spending time with them

Really like this port. Had a fun area right by the boat. Good shopping. We did a Van Your Way excursion for our family and thoroughly enjoyed it! We had Pedro as our tour guide and he took us to many different parts of the city. We had had enough sun so just visited the beaches but did not swim though the water looked beautiful. Went to a cigar shop, jewelry shop, Amber museum, city center, chocolate factory, baseball stadium and the more affluent part of town to see the houses. Ate at a good restaurant but nothing great. Great excursion!

Another beautiful country. Went on the Monkey Jungle&Dominican Flavors For Families tour. The monkey were the highlight of the day. They bounce from person to person and it was great to be able to touch them and have them so close. The coffee from the dominican home we stopped at was so GOOD. Our tour guides Fabian and Julio were very knowledgeable and gave us great attention and excellent rum. Highly recommend this tour.
