One of the most "welcoming" ports I've encountered. There is a Jamaican band greeting guests exiting the ship and the view from the port is breathtaking. People are extremely friendly.😏😜

I heard a lot of negative things about Jamaica from anyone who had ever been before. "It's beautiful, BUT..." So I was very cautious and aware of our surroundings. We did the Martha Brae bamboo raft tour. It was absolutely beautiful. It took my breath away. We saw some pushy salespeople who waded out into the river to try to sell us trinkets, but it wasn't anything too intrusive. I never felt uncomfortable. Our raft captain Clive was very informative and showed us things in nature that I had never seen before. Afterwards they dropped us off for a very quick stop at a shopping area, and we bought a Red Stripe and a meat pie that was knock-your-socks-off good. Back at the port we did some shopping, which was very relaxed and felt safe. I hated to leave. I'd like to come back here and spend a week.

We did the hop on hop off which I think gets bad reviews for lack of knowledge, and hello it's so cheap. You don't have to get off at every stop. When we hit the first stop, everyone got off, but the 4 of us stayed on and and asked our driver Troy to take us to Doctors Cave. It really is that simple. Troy btw was totally awesome, pointing out things about Jamaica and landmarks on the way... Doctors cave: You'll want to Rent a chair and an umbrella, although there are shaded areas back by the building. I think we paid $24 for two chairs, one umbrella. Yes people approach with the smoke, and trinkets and such, but they are nice people. If you are into "that", you can smoke freely on the concrete pier for $5 to the security guard. We enjoyed the day and respected the culture. Beers were pricey, but can't go wrong with Red Stripe, amiright? Ended up at Margaritaville, where the wait time was long for a few drinks and an appetizer, but we planned accordingly because it's a hot spot and made it to the ship long before sail time. If you are a laid back person who just loves a beautiful beach, Jamaica is amazing. If everything offends you, probably not your spot. To top it off, Montego Bay had the most amazing sunset I've ever seen. Wouldn't take my kids, but I would definitely take myself again!

???Hard Rock??? Wife, child (18), friend (18), other friend (18), and I ditched the old folks and walked from port to wherever...we were NOT ready to leave Jamaica...hot, sweaty, dying of thirst, for forgetting to look the 'other way' for traffic, we found Hard Rock...way under dressed, nobody stopped us, straight to the bar...no questions asked for 18 y.o....lol...filled out post cards for unlucky people back home, then hit the beach for a look see...WOW!, love Margarittaville, but next time in Montego Bay, this is our destination...walking distance (no $$$ cabs), clean peaceful beach, clean shallow pool, way cool seating areas and open areas...regular eating areas, fancy dining table areas...this place has it all...cannot wait to go back...few years to go, but we will be there...
