Just an FYI, if you like luxury, Jamaica is very ghetto overall. Get some rum cakes to take back as they are excellent. River tubing was fun, water is a little cold though even in July. Be aware, you will be hassled by people trying to sell you stuff like never before. Not this bad even in Mexico.

I love Jamaica, but I have a bias to it because of family. We went to Doctors Beach and did some shopping. The next time I go, I’m going to do more excursions.

Did the hop on hop off bus tour and that was great and Jamaica was beautiful. Just people there were always asking us if we wanted to buy weed off them. It was almost disturbing how many people offered it and were pushy with it. Also we went to a craft market and everyone there in their own little shops were extremely pushy!!! It was very uncomfortable so we tried to get out of there as soon as possible but they all wanted you to look at their stuff... but Jamaica itself was beautiful. The beach was really nice but you had to pay an arm and a leg to get a couple chairs and an umbrella. Then the person who brings your chairs for you expects a tip after we’ve just payed $60 for some chairs and umbrellas.

I visited Rose Hall in Jamaica and did a little shopping. This excursion was a little under $60; however, I would suggest you jumping on a shuttle to tour the city and do a little shopping. The first center we stopped by was excellent but I didn't care for the second one. The island is beautiful and the culture is quite different. I suggest taking the advice of the drivers and tour guide to avoid any misunderstandings.

I’ll never visit Jamaica again. Couldn’t walk five feet without someone either begging for money or asking me to buy weed. It was VERY dirty & had needles laying around as we exiting the ship. There was no entertainment. Our taxi forced us to pay for round trip & said they’d be back to get us, but did not return, so we paid for a round trip, plus paid for another taxi to bring us back to ship.

We didn't go here expecting much after reading all of the negative reviews. We caught a nice air conditioned taxi van from the port and from there we were given a tour of the area. We could see from the tour how poor the area was but we enjoyed seeing every aspect of the island. Good or bad. From there we were taken to a shop with a roof top bar and gorgeous views of the beach. There was also a man cooking jerk chicken. My friends really enjoyed it. I opted out since I can't handle spicy! After that we were taken to the beach. There were picnic tables, bars, and shops. The city is dirty and honestly if I didn't have the tour guide I'm not sure how save i would have felt, but we made the best of the time we got to spend here. I'd recommend finding a taxi from the port and riding through the city to look at the area and checking out the beautiful beach!

Be careful who you get a ride with, we took a bus and they were suppose to just take us shopping and we ended up making 4 stops and he tried to charge us extra at the end. Didn't even get to do what we wanted.

Doctor's Cave beach is gorgeous, the water is greenish blue and so clear, and a lot of fun to swim! The beach club has great pricing, the drinks are strong, and the service was top notch, ask for Daniela! We did not enjoy the city or the people as a whole. There are cabbies and vendors everywhere that will block your path, they can be quite insistent at times, but just keep walking and saying no thank you and you'll get through them eventually. The shop keepers would try to nag us into their stores, and once in there they put jewelry on you and gouge the prices, you must negotiate or they won't respect you! Definitely use your street smarts if you're going to walk around on your own. The island itself is a paradise and we're definitely going back, but we'll stay at the resorts and take guided excursions from now on. Loved the beach, it was worth the hassles to get there and back.
