We were disappointed in our snorkeling excursion, it was not at all what was expected. We saw nothing, and it was not pretty. Would not recommend to anyone

We got off the cruise and took a taxi/shuttle to the beach. It stopped at a shopping place first, so we got off thinking we could see if we liked the shops and if not get back on and continue our ride. No we had to pay for our ride their and then pay another taxi to take us to the beach. Once at the beach we had to pay to get in. We never went more than a minute without someone asking us to buy something. We stayed maybe an hour on the beach and payed a taxi to take us back to the boat. Every place we went and every taxi we got in asked us to buy some pot. We never felt safe. The place was just nasty. Nothing to see where we went. I will say we talked with people on the boat afterward that had booked an excursion through the cruise line and enjoyed it. I would never recommend Monetego Bay to anyone!!!

We have been to Jamaica before and don’t feel comfortable going out on our own, so we went to a “resort for the day “. It was close to the ship and okay, but certainly not anything special, and definitely not worth the price.

We took the Appleton Rum tour which lasted most of our time in port but it was worth it. We drove up into the mountains and away from the beach and got to see how the people really live outside the touristy beach areas. It was sad to see the poverty but the scenery was beautiful. The Appleton estate was gorgeous and the tour was fun. We had a delicious lunch and got to do a rum tasting. We didn't get to a beach but since we were going to see beaches the next two ports we were happy to have seen a different side of the island.

We stayed on ventured to the pier here, did not hear great things about the market in town. Many said the vendors were very pushy with their goods.
