Been to Cozumel 3 times and did something different each time. 1st time we rented scooters from a place across the street from the cruise port. 2nd rented a jeep. Please note there are 2 cruise ports. Carnival docks right in the heart of everything. Royal Caribbean docks in West Bubble Fart about 10 minutes away from the Carnival docks. We went to Mr. Sancho's the last time we were in Cozumel. Loved it. Worth the $55 for the all inclusive. I even let the fish eat the crust off my heels. RIP to Nemo and Dory for doing that LOL

We have been to Cozumel three times, and usually have gone on excursions to the mainland (Tulum, XPlor). We had been planning to do the ship excursion to Chichen Itza. We cancelled after the US State Department did not allow US employees to ride the ferries between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen (after the ferry bombings). I also read that most cruise lines had cancelled excursions using the ferries. So, we were cautious and cancelled that excursion. Instead, we did the America's Cup excursion. We were split between two 1980s era America's Cup racing boats (Stars and Stripes vs True North). Everyone could choose to be active, a little active, or just watch. We chose to be active, but I think some of the people who chose to be al little active worked harder than we did. We actually had a race with five legs around three markers. Our boat won, but everyone had a great time. It was about 3 hours total time. It is a great excursion for anyone interested in sailing, America's Cup, racing, or just some fun time on the water. No sailing experience or knowledge is required.

Nice port area, but the real gem is in the city of San Miguel. Great shopping, lots to see and do, felt very safe. Very nice people. Ate lunch at Pancho's backyard, which is about a $12 taxi ride from the port, awesome food and service. Very modern. We spent most of the day at Chankanaab Resort, at $8 taxi ride from the port. Great sandy beach area, free sea lion show, and other amenities. Very good snorkeling. It was pretty rough and windy on our port day, so we weren't able to do much snorkeling.
