Great first time cruise, will gladly sail with RC again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Good experience with embarkation, very smooth. There was a minor glich when the computers expectedly shut down, but they resolved the issue quickly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate at the buffet, main dining room, and 2 of the specialty restaurants. As expected the buffet food was good, the main dining room was a step up from the buffet, food there was very good. The food at the specialty restaurants, especially Giovanni's, was excellent. Servers at all the food locations were superb and greatly added to the dining experience, especially Cellio and Gede - great servers!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Vision of the Seas is a small to medium sized ship and the activities reflected that as well. Overall, the staff tried very hard to make the activities fun, and they were successful. Being a smaller ship, the entertainment options were limited, but the evening shows were good and we were happy with them. Kudos to the Park West staff, especially Kathy Row, who ran the art auction and galleries. Very nice and entertaining. If you haven't been to an art auction on a cruise, do so, its really a lot of fun.
Day Spa and Fitness Center
5 out of 5
We did visit the Spa during our cruise. There are a lot of specially priced events in the spa, so wait until you are onboard to book any spa packages. The staff were very nice and knowledgeable.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our dining room servers, Cellio and Gede were more than excellent. Overall, all servers we came in contact with were very good. Our room steward was awesome as well. Twice a day our room was made up, and at night, coming back from dinner and the shows to a freshly made bed and clean towels in the room made the vacation that much more relaxing.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Being our first cruise, we enjoyed the size of the Vision. Very easy to get around and absolutely no waiting for anything. Ship was very clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The size of the cabin was adequate. No complaints really, except for the size of the shower. It's a bit on the wee side, but manageable.
Great port area, very modern and lots to do. We took a $4 cab ride from the port to a free beach called Krazy Lobster beach. Good beach area with umbrella tables, sandy beach. We ate fish tacos which were very good. Keep in mind that since its a free beach, you will be constantly approached by vendors selling various goods. They were all very polite and a no thank you was enough for them to move on.
Nice port area, but the real gem is in the city of San Miguel. Great shopping, lots to see and do, felt very safe. Very nice people. Ate lunch at Pancho's backyard, which is about a $12 taxi ride from the port, awesome food and service. Very modern. We spent most of the day at Chankanaab Resort, at $8 taxi ride from the port. Great sandy beach area, free sea lion show, and other amenities. Very good snorkeling. It was pretty rough and windy on our port day, so we weren't able to do much snorkeling.
Totally smooth and painless. We opted for self embarkation, so just a short wait in the lobby and 5-10 minutes later we were through customs and taking a shuttle back to our vehicle.
