Review summary

All in all, the cruise was good. I'd say great except that so many became seasick due to weather and I know that can't be controlled. The wedding was beautiful, except for the pitching and rolling. Don't know that I would go on this ship again though, especially in January, because even though we didn't become seasick, it was difficult to walk around on the ship and some activities were even cancelled due to the weather and the pitching and rolling of the ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were in a large group to attend my niece's shipboard wedding. Embarkation of this large group (there were about 55 of us) went very well. I think it took a total of 10 minutes before we were checked in and on our way up to the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room waiters were great, food was just ok. We had the late seating as we were with a big group. Buffet was good, I would find more there to my liking than on the main dining room menu. I was disappointed that they didn't serve the lava cake - then found out that they did serve it, but in the specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The only activity that I did on the ship was the slot machine tournament. It was fun!

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was very comfortable. Cleanliness was outstanding. The room steward, Jose, took very good care of us and the room. I have absolutely no complaints about this.

Ship tip

Take lots of sea sick medicine whether or not you think you'll need it. We hit some unexpected rough seas - typical of sailing this route in January we were told - and at least half of the people on the ship were affected by seasickness. We were told that that was because it was an older, smaller ship that didn't have the equipment needed to prevent the pitching and rolling that we experienced. Luckily, neither my husband nor I had any problems but many were very severely affected.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Nice small port with lots to see and do. We didn't go into town, just stayed at the port and had a nice visit. Shops, restaurants and activities were right there. The port was very clean and the people there were very helpful.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We had been to Cozumel before and wanted to see if any changes had been made. We were at the International dock and took a taxi into the main part of town. Lots of changes but mainly the same. Port was very clean with a lot of transportation available that didn't cost a lot (taxi was $4 per person).

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We took our own luggage out instead of having the crew take our suitcases . Because of this, we made it off the ship in record time.
