Mayan Princess Resort - very nice! Worth it! ( Vendors can be a bit aggressive - but that is anywhere you go.

We hooked up with transportation just inside of port and took a long ride to little key beach that was perfect and by far the best beach on our entire visit. Our driver and "babysitter" stayed the whole time and got our drinks and made sure we got back on time. Admittance to the beach was $20 and the transportation and "babysitter" was $20 per person.

MAYA KEY PRIVATE ISLAND!!!! MUST SEE!!! I saw so many animals and was given a very good and informative tour from Bryon. I was even able to go paddle boarding for the 1st time with Luis. Very cool experience! Would live and work on this island permanently.

My son & I did the Dolphin Encounter/Swim & Snorkel through Norwegian. It was amazing. You are right up close with the dolphins for an extended period of time, they spend time taking your picture with the Dolphin (which you can later purchase in the gift shop) & then you spend time swimming and snorkeling with all the Dolphins. However, my husband and my two older children were able to get a taxi/van and the driver took them around the entire island for hours. Took them to the West Side, a great lunch spot, etc. He spent over five hours with them and charged only $90. They loved it and got to see the island and got great pictures.

Loved Roatan! Just too many beach vendors at West Bay Beach... massages, braiding hair, trinkets for sale, etc... can be bothersome to a degree

We had a great time on Roatan! Mainly because of our tour guide who took us all over after our Monkey/Sloth park-snorkeling excursion. I love the topography of the island and that the Coxen Hole area was not super-developed. People were really nice.

Did not spend any time in the cruise port itself. We went to West Bay Beach and hung out at the Paradise hotel. It was beautiful but very busy and filled with folks selling things. They were not rude, but it was pretty constant. The island itself is absolutely gorgeous and the people were so kind.

Booked a shore excursion for the Monkey and Sloth tour with Viator (trip advisor) were very pleased with the tour, the park, and the beach we ended up at. There was an ample amount of security present and we never felt unsafe. Also got some great photos :) Just be sure to get off the ship and to your destinations as soon as possible, as there was three other cruise ships present on the same day. By the time we left the monkey and sloth park there was a long wait.

Very few shops but there was ALOT of construction going on, so you can tell they are trying to upgrade it big time. Not much to do in port. Our excursion was Gumbalimba Park Preservation. The ride over was about 25 minutes and our tour guide was very informative and gave lots of stats and info about the island. The park itself was pretty cool with lots of information about the island as well. We got to hang with the Macaws and Kapoochen Monkeys which was awesome!
