I liked this port of call teh most. The last time I visited the Dominican Republic we docked in the capital. I ventured out to visite but overall the experience was not very good. Samana on the other hand is a beautiful peaceful bay. We opted to go to the Mangroves and Caves. Our guide was very good, informative, pleasant and fun. His knowledge of the mangroves and the caves was excellent. The trip was excellent in all regards. A little fun, a lot of history, and some wonderful sites.

We chose to go to the private beach and it was packed, way too many people and then it poured and everyone wanted to get back on the tenders at the same time...shop early at the open air market...great Island art!

It wasn't the best port to explore right off the ship. I would recommend using this port for an excursion. We were constantly bombarded by people trying to sell us sea shells.

Poor, poor place! the water fall is ok but I won;t go crazy over it, beaches are full of people traying to sell you crap

We didn't see an excursion that interested us, so we went in on a tender pass and it was a big disappointment. Many people trying to sell us something. No scentic sights to see. I would never go here again.
