We did a tour on our own. There were lots of tourist stops for souveniers and pictures. The island is as beautiful as ever, but showing the effects of Hurricanes Irma and Maria with lots of blue tarps on roofs which have not yet been repaired.

St. Thomas is an excellent cruise port. The beaches are very nice and I recommend going to Magens Bay Beach. All the areas were very clean and had a nice shopping area 5 minutes away from the ship. There is a lot of beaches but Magens is the best in my opinion.

Clean. But beware, the excursion we took and booked ditectly from NCL: Shopping + Maegan’s beach, our driver was late for pick up both feom the beach and after the shopping. We didnt wait for him after the shopping when he was late for 20 mins and when another helpful taxi/tour guide willingly offered to take us to our ship, the crew was in the process of already taking off thr last walkway to enter the ship! Its not a guarantee you will be waited even if you booked your excursion through the cruiseline. Always get the direct number for the ship and your driver/tour guide.
