A: Secret Harbor is a great beach to relax, swim/snorkel, and enjoy food/drinks at their restaurant. It’s pretty close by (short taxi ride) and it tends to be less crowded, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Answered by NeedToVacation on September 21, 2024
A: Unless having a meal and drinks at Paradise Point, expect to stay up there maybe an hour, taking in the scenery and getting souvenirs. If going there by the skyride, allow 30 minutes each way for transit. The skyride terminal is about a 15 minute wal... k from the Havensight docks.See More

A: Open air cabs that can take about 20 people. No worries just follow the signs thru the port to the cabs. Fares posted when you get there.

A: We went to Water Island about 6 (?) years ago. You take a taxi over to the water taxi terminal, which is just on the other side of the cruise port area of the bay. The water taxi ride is only about 10 minutes or so. Then you walk up a small hill alon... g the road to get to Honeymoon Beach. It’s beautiful, but very shallow calm water. It’s mostly for laying around, tanning, having a leisurely drink. You can do a search and it will bring up pictures and detailed directions on getting there.See More

A: We are going to try “Secret Harbor” when we’re there in May. (We want to snorkel also). It looks great from the pictures, and gets good reviews.

A: I'm not aware of any real close but we took a taxi to Maegens Bay and it was breathtaking! I highly recommend it. It's worth the money to get there. There is a $7 entry fee. Loungers can be rented but sand is soft and even for laying on a towel. We w... itnessed several turtles swimming near us. Many people were snorkeling.. We also saw several types of fish swim right by us in the shallow area.See More

Q: For those that have taken the ferry from Red Hook to St John’s how much time did you allow in total? Is 1 hour each way enough? Looking at a non Carnival private tour on St John’s and trying to figure out a pickup time. Also how long does it take to get off the ship without a booked Carnival excursion. Thank you.

A: Don’t bother with a tour, you can easily do it yourself. Once you get off of the ship, grab a taxi to the Red Hook ferry (the taxis are everywhere and will ask if you want to go to Magen’s Bay or Red Hook), purchase your ticket to St. John’s, then ge... t a taxi to Trunk Bay (again, taxis are everywhere). It is a National Park so there is a small entrance fee. The beach is absolutely gorgeous, you will want to spend as much time as possible there. The tour groups we saw coming to the beach only stayed a very short amount of time and then left to visit other places on the island. Super easy to get back to the cruise ship, just everything in reverse.See More

A: You should be able to disembark the ship at the same time as those with Carnival excursion. You need to verify which dock your ship will be porting at bc St Thomas has 2. Carnival ships usually dock at Havensight. Once you know that you can determine... how long the taxi time is to Red Hook. Havensight to Red Hook usually takes about 30 min. Make sure you pull up the Red Hook ferry schedule so that you know the departure/return times.See More

Q: Looking far in advance (March 20, 2024) and see that there will be 5 cruise ships docked in St. Thomas. If this is correct what is something to do away from the crowds? I would really like to take the Skyride, is this going to keep up with the crowds? And which beach would be an alternative from the 2 popular ones? Thanks, Wendy

A: Be sure to give yourself time to enjoy your beach day in St. John. Getting to Red Hook takes nearly a half hour, esp. if your ship docks at Crown Bay. The ferry and then taxi from Cruz Bay to the beach adds another half hour at least. Plus, the taxis... like to leave full, so you might actually sit in the taxi for a few minutes waiting for other fares. In other words, get off the ship early. Don't dilly dally and have a leisurely breakfast that day. Enjoy. 😁See More

Q: Since our Royal ship always ports at Crown Bay - and we have shopped those shops and eaten at the Marina restaurant, what is the next step for finding a non-chain restaurant and shopping for magnets/t-shirts? A cab to Havensight tourist area? Elsewhere? What would be a average one way cab cost? Normal to tip on the cab ride?

Answer Question
Q: Has anyone docked in C.A. and gone straight to St John on the ferry? If so, best place in St John to just hang out, have lunch, people watch maybe shop a little; maybe some what near the ferry dock? My main interest in the itinerary including st. Thomas was the opportunity to spend a day in St John!

Q: The last time we did Royal for Charlotte Amalie, they docked at the Cruise Port of Charlotte Amalie in Charlotte Amalie West. Does Royal always dock there? Do they ever dock at Havensight Cruise Pier?

A: Havensight is used by other cruise lines. Royal uses west dock
Answered by Levishear on October 17, 2022
A: Royal rocks at Havensight most of the time, as they paid for the development of this pier for Oasis class ships.
Answered by TXatsea on August 13, 2022
A: There is not a Dutch side in St. Thomas as they are part of the United States Virgin Islands. The previous writer may be confused with St. Maarten. RCCL always docks at Crown Bay as the ships are too large to dock anywhere else.
Answered by RoyalCruzer on August 13, 2022
