Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Port Q&A

4.4
Looking far in advance (March 20, 2024) and see that there will be 5 cruise ships docked in St. Thomas. If this is correct what is something to do away from the crowds? I would really like to take the Skyride, is this going to keep up with the crowds? And which beach would be an alternative from the 2 popular ones? Thanks, Wendy

Try Sapphire Beach. It's beautiful and not overly crowded and away from most of the tourist.

Your count is off only 4 ships that day: HAL's Nieuw Amsterdam 7am-4pm possible 2200 passengers (listed twice due to itinerary change); Disney Fantasy 7:45am - 3:45pm possible 4000 passengers; NCL Encore 11am-7pm posssible 4200 passengers; and Royal's Wonder ot Seas 12:30-8pm possible 7000 passengers. Still a lot of people but we'll staggered docking times.

How do you find out what ships will be at the port?

We Went To Do Skyride…But For Price Of It I Hired A Private Driver To Take Us Around (4) Island. We Went To Get Banana Daiquiris & Shop At The Mountain Top Shop! We Got To Do 3 Different Turnout Views Of Island. Then Got Dropped Off By Skyride Area To Shopping & Exploring Around Town. The Other Part Of Our Group Went To Dinghy’s At Honeymoon Beach To Relax, Eat, & Drink…Enjoy Your Cruise

st John's ferry if you're up for it, otherwise take a taxi to sapphire Beach. of course avoid Megan's Beach which is always good advice regardless of other ships.

You can get a boat to St.John-it doesn’t take long and the beach is amazing. Fantastic photo opportunities and a national park that you can visit.

St Thomas is not that big, unfortunatly if there are 5 ships in port at the same time, there will be no "uncrowded" things to do.

The Skyride is fine if you’re looking for great views of the bay below but in all honesty there’s really not much going on up at the top.

Sapphire Beach is fabulous & more secluded than most on the island😎
