The seven hour "Best of Halifax" guided by Bob, was the best excursion we've ever taken, due primarily to Bob's knowledge and wonderful story telling.

A larger and busier place but very nice. It was very easy to navigate the local streets and there was some beautiful parks there. We found a nice little park out of the way and had some coffee and pastry's there. Ate lunch at the Henry House. This is another historical building converted into a pub. Their fish and chips were out of this world. A fine selection of beers on tap.

shared a van with 3 other passengers to Peggy's Cove--highly recommend going this way--much cheaper and more personalized. For example, our driver took us to a local restaurant on the way back for lobster rolls and waited patiently for us.

Because we skipped St Johns we had an overnight in Halifax. Arriving mid-afternoon was strange; the ship was several blocks from what could be considered the center of town and the walk is mostly along the boardwalk. There were huge local crowds, as again, there was a festival happening. It was very hot! Stange after being in almost winter like weather. The second day was better - took the Peggy's Cove excursion. The drive was beautiful and our guide, Gale, is a local and had lots of good info. Peggy's Cove itself is just a small cove made famous by an abandoned child and an artist. An hour is plenty time to see it all. Masses of people. The most interesting thing is the rock formations. We did get good info from Gale on what to do the second day: the Maritime Museum, the Public Gardens, Catholic and Anglican cemeteries. We found a local brewery for lunch, did a lot of walking; went back to the ship and cleaned up for dinner - had a really nice dinner on the patio at Shuck.

Met friends who live here & toured both the city and the coastal coves. Peggy's Cove- established in 1811...was breathtaking! Worth the drive for sure!
