it was great being in downtown Hamilton - we rode the ferries and took taxis in addition to enjoying being in town

The best part of Hamilton is by far Horsehoe Bay beach. Hop on the bus ($12 for an all day pass) and get off at Horseshoe Bay. This is about as close to Hawaii as you can get on the east/atlantic ocean. The sand is silky smooth, with a huge area for swimming/sufing etc. Hike a little ways down the beach and you will discover endless areas of coves and large rock masses where the ocean creates beautiful scenery and natual pools to lay in and take pictures. The water is unbelieveably clear and perfect temperature. It is gorgous. If you want shopping, head back into town, there are plenty of shops for whatever you are looking for. The Crystal Caves are a waste of time. Avoid this. You can see it all in about 10 min, but the tour takes 30min and charges you $15/pp, so stay away from this trap. Look online at the pictures if you are curious, its exactly the same as the pictures you will take and will save you some money. Oh yeah, be sure to try the local favorite drink, the "Rum Swizzle".

It was facinating riding the bus all around the Island and seeing those beautiful beaches. We did not eat on shore so no comment on the restaurants. The gardens were beautiful and the water collection system facinating. We also loved the colors they use. The Wednesday night sidewalk flea market and dancing were wonderful.

Been before, loved it just as much. Definitely do a day pass on the bus and ride it out to the Dockyard, catch a ferry back and then ride the ferry just for fun if you have time in the evening. Don't buy one for kids, they can ride for a dollar (if they charge you at all) I bought a 12 dollar adult ticket on the boat (don't have kids tickets there) and basically wasted my money.

Hamilton is a small city but very clean and pretty. The city hall has a nice small museum which you can see in less than an hour. Taxis in Bermuda were on the expensive side, but you don't really need one unless you leave Hamilton. Then we took a bus, which was interesting and fun. $12 for a day pass/$6 for kids up to 16 years old lets you travel all day. The residents of Bermuda we talked to were pleasant and funny. We walked to Ft. Hamilton which had a nice trail between the walls of the fort - lots of beautiful tropical plants We traveled to the Gibbs Hill lighthouse, which has an awesome view of the islands. Then we continued on to Scaur Hill Fort and Park. Let the bus driver know well in advance if you want to go there - the stop does not have a cutout, so you won't see it coming. The grounds are pretty. There is a restroom but no food or drinks whatsoever, so bring water with you. Most businesses close at 5 o'clock so do your sightseeing early.

This is more of the business district we didn't really see much other than do a little shopping... the night we docked there was a street fair and the locals came out to see stuff on the street..
