Skagway is even more beautiful than Sitka with the mountain scenery and the town is a little larger than Sitka and it’s truly a great place for that 1800’s look and feel. I absolutely loved this port.

By far, the best port!! We booked 2 excursions at this port. Our morning started with the Great White Pass Train. This train route had the most spectacular views and historical information provided. Our afternoon excursion was a 6.5 hour 4x4 tour that started with a ferry ride to Haines, a short bus ride, a 4x4 trail, bear sighting, an amazing halibut meal, then back to Skagway by bus and ferry again.

So again we went off the beaten path and did our own thing. We thought about doing some excursions here but decided not to and took in a lot of the history parts of the town. Most we're free to tour and also they have a wonderful little museum with thier history!!! My husband's a history buff so what better way to spend our time than soaking it up! They have so many options here! You can rent bikes, scooters, motorcycles, the city smart bus is 6 dollars all day to take and it makes lots of stops and pickups! We went to the minners cemetery was beatiful. Behind there is Reid's waterfall to hike up to, so totally worth that hike!!! We did some other little stuff but just took it all in. Loved it all. Such a great little town! Amazingly beautiful as well. This whole crusie has been. They have shuttles from the ship to the end of the year and the city bus will take you or you can walk, it's two dollars a ride or again that 6 all day! Shopped local shops again. Made it a point to!

We did the White Pass Railway, gold panning, and BBQ lunch excursion. Even snowed on us a little on the drive up the pass. Loved every minute of it. Also had time to walk/shop in town a bit and try the Alaskan Doughboy/fry bread. Delicious! The town was historic and full of character.

Skagway is very small, their only thing is tourism so it’s a few rows on touristy shops. We did the train excursion which was great if you sit on the left of the train, good if you sit on the right. Our train car girl was Mary who was so nice and fun and loves Alaska. She was definitely a highlight of the ride.

Walked the streets a while, got a doughboy and some coffees, then went on the white pass railway! The doughboy was like the perfect elephant ear with cinnamon and sugar! The train ride was so beautiful and was the perfect temperature if you spent it outside on the platforms of the train cars. I loved every second!
