We didn't spend any time in Seward, took the train directly from the ship to Anchorage. The train ride was all we anticipated. Mackie and I saw so many beautiful sights and visited with another couple from Texas. Anchorage is a beautiful city with all the flowers. We were treated very well at the convention center where our luggage was kept until we were ready to board the plane.

We stayed with friends in Seward and enjoyed the tour they gave us in their boat, which is similar to water excursions offered by local tour companies. Aside from the boat tour there isn't a lot to do in Seward, although on July 4 every year there is an interesting running race up and down a local mountain. The most outstanding attraction in Seward is the aquarium, which has lots of rescue animals to see (baby walrus, sea lions, otters, etc.)

You can take a $10 round trip shuttle to Exit Glacier - cheaper than any of the offered excursions!! If you're planning to take the train up to Anchorage, it is scenic but slow moving. It takes about 4.5 hours and it's about 2-2.5 hours to drive the distance. If we had to do it again, we'd take the bus.

didn't see much of the town, as we spent our time at Exit Glacier and then wanted to get onboard. Sorry we didn't see the Orcas that swam alongside the ship as we left port.
