Very scenic--literally "hangs" on a steep hillside. Interesting architecture, and plentiful shopping.

Flight seeing on a float plane to George Inlet Lodge for all you can eat crab. Lots of fun, this port day was shorter than the others and wish we had more time.

Did an excursion walk through a rain forest and a visit to the Potlatch Village, a privately owned place. Our group was very small. This made it even more fun. We learned quite a bit with the guide telling us some wonderful personal stories as well as the historical and contemporary information

Just posted some letters from the postal drop on the pier and then wandered the water front. We want to go exploring more when we return this September.

Again with the shops, etc. Ketchikan lived up to it's reputation as one of the rainiest places in the world but fortunately it was an intermittent drizzle so we were able to get out. To us, the highlight of walking around Creek Street including the Fish Ladder and Married Man's Trail. Saw some kids pulling large salmon out of the creek with regularity (and throwing them back) and it was a very picturesque part of Ketchikan.

Ketchikan was alright. There were fun things to check out like Creek Street and that whole area. We ate breakfast at Sweet Mermaid cafe near the tunnel by the ship. Wonderful food and friendly staff. It seemed like a trendy local hang out spot for coffee and breakfast. We walked to the park district area and saw thousands of salmon swimming and jumping in the river. That was fun to see. There were a lot of dead fish everywhere though. A lot. We did most of shopping here. Tons of Jewelry shops and they will do anything to get you in their store with free stuff. Everytime we declined though, they weren't pushy at all. Most of these Jewelry places are owned by the cruise lines and these people only live there in the summer. We tried going to local shops and when we did that it felt authentic. Friendly Alaskan people everywhere. Overall, it was nice to see this port but it wasn't my favorite stop of the cruise.

Did a tour what was supposed to be 2.5hrs long to visit totems and a wildlife park, what a joke. When we got in the van after paying $145 the drivers wife was hiding in the back of the van and popped up once we were on route. She then talked about very personal things that I did not need to know about. Totems were about a 5 min walk around. We went inside to talk to the old man that did the carvings on the Totems, to be yelled at, told us donβt you see that Iβm looking up things on my phone πππ this man is in his 90βs. No wildlife park just a small overlook that looks into a very small river. Got half our money back after I complained.
