Okay I got some nice souveniers. Didn't but any diamonds or Tanzanite from the pushy sales people.

I enjoyed Juneau, and my excursion was a hike to view Mendenhall Glacier (very interesting!) and then whale watching! I was excited to see the whales (four in total) for a long time and got some nice photos of them!

Beautiful-we had a friend in Juneau who loaned us a vehicle to tour Mendenhall Glacier and Auke Bay. Perfect weather. We took the Mount Roberts tram. Fabulous- we walked to the top and enjoyed a magnificent view.

We went on the Gold Panning/Salmon Bake excursion thru HAL. We went to the end of the pier, found the guides, who then told us they were running late- when we asked how long, they didn’t know. So we ended up just standing in the hot sun waiting because we didn’t want to venture too far and miss the excursion. The shuttle finally picked us up about 30 minutes late. Once we got to the creek our driver/prospector gave us a tutorial and we got started. It was fun except for all the flies-there were so many- it was horrible!!! If you do this trip-bring bug spray! Our time was shortened at the creek since we arrived late-blessing in disguise since it got us away from the flies. We proceeded to the salmon bake. The food was delicious. We walked the short, level trail to the waterfall and it was really pretty. When we were done we took a shuttle back to the pier (they ran every 15-20 minutes)

Be prepared to walk about 20 mins,or you can purchase a ticket on shuttle, from the port into town.
