A little bigger town. Surprised that you could only get there by ship or plane being that it is there capital city. We absolutely loved the Whale Watching Quest. We saw Two pods of Orcas and a few humpbacks! I wished one of them would have breached. The Mendenhall Glacier was gorgeous and so was its waterfall! The lunch at Orca Point was very good!

Definitely one of my favorite ports. I would definitely recommend taking the tram, there are multiple trails to go hiking on, there are many beautiful sights from above the city.

Juneau was the only port we didn't have an excursion planned ahead of time. Got off ship & found a deal to go whale watching. It was fun watching for the puffs on top of the water then watching to see the whale flip over! Glad we brought our binoculars! Much needed!! Had a great time with Juneau Whale watching!

Juneau is a bigger city, but getting off the ship and walking around was very easy. So many shops within close range. We went up the Tram and enjoyed an excellent tour at the top of the mountain. Our tour guide, Lars, was born in Alaska, and was a wealth of information about his hometown.

If you can raise the money by beg, borrow or steal (not literally!)...you have to do heli trip with glacier guide walk. An experience you will never forget! We were meant to be doing a glacier dog sled trip but that was cancelled. From what we can tell from others that we're doing that to and shared the same coach as us to and from the heliport (the one booked through RC instead of private was not cancelled) you spend very little time on your sled ride. Maybe not the idyllic letdown at one with nature exploring the glacier experience you are imagining (or what I was imagining anyway!). I'm sure it's great fun....but quite a conveyor belt with a short trip.
