Favorite weather by far at this port, a whole lot of rain. Went to this port earlier than supposed to due to the murder that happened on the boat (yes, I was on that ship). Got off later than expected too, luckily the excursion was understanding of our situation (we ended up doing ziplining in the rainforest). Ziplining was a lot of fun (my first time doing it) we ended up ziplining in the rain. Did not have the chance to explore the town.

Again, I've visited the Juneau on the same trip that included Ketchikan previously, 30 years ago and this city has grown to include a huge pier to greet the massive ships that come in. There was no visitor center and it wasn't a problem to get into the Red Dog Saloon. We did the Whale watch tour and salmon bake. We saw a humpback and baby and Orca/s and it was awesome. The naturalist and boat captain were great and we got some pictures of the whales. The salmon bake which was part of the excursion is very well done, with picnic tables under a canopy of trees, plenty of food and then you can take a short scenic walk behind the gift shop to walk off your lunch to take pictures of the waterfall. After we got back into town we walked around to pick up a couple gifts. The port is right within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. The weather was beautiful!!

We took a whale watching trip which was fantastic. Auk bay, Herbert Glacier, and Favorite Channel were beautiful. The tour crew was informative and fun. We took the first excrusion of the day which was a good choice - we were back by noon which gave us time to go up Mt Roberts Tram - a must do. We didn' t take any of the hikes, so we still had time for shopping/dining when we came down.

Whale Watching tour (4 hrs) was a bit too long on the ship. Ok if you don't get seasick - if you do, this could be a problem because they shut off the engine and you are left in the water slapping up and down. Who can watch anything at that point? Too long. Also Bliss does not give you enough time while in this port. You have to be back on the ship by noon and you don't get to see the town if you go on an excursion.

The Mendenhall Glacier Trek is a must. It’s expensive $429 through the operator but the helicopter ride to and from the glacier and being able to walk and explore the glacier for over 2 hours is breathtaking. Must be able to walk on rugged terrain. Skip Tracy’s King Crab, not worth the $40 per person, cold king crab, bisque was average, crab cakes all filler.
