Get off the beaten path and enjoy the real Juneau. Visit the old bars that have been there 100 years. Visit the state house (free tours available), hike up the hilly streets! Visit the variety of memorials around town. And don't miss Mendenhall Glacier. While you're there, don't get lazy...take the mile walk to the waterfall and glacier. You'll be glad you did! It really does only take 22 minutes and I am out of shape. Fit people can easily do the walk in under 20. Don't book a boat tour. We got our bus through M&M tours. Buses run all day, every half-hour, and only $45. Spend the time walking to the glacier, going into the visitor center, and watching their 15 minute film. Word to the wise...go EARLY!!!! This port has between 5-7 boats every day and the glacier gets busy!

Very cold, foggy & rainy but we went on the tram up the mountain. Eat at Tracy's Crab right on the water. Visit Alaska T Shirt Shop for good but not expensive souvenirs.

Took the Mendenhall Glacier and Whale watching tour with Princess. Both parts of the tour were exceptional. The glacier is awesome with good views. We wanted to hike to Nugget Falls, but this tour allowed only 1 hour at the glacier, and we were afraid we couldn't make it back. Whale watching could not have been better. We had a mother and baby whale really put on a show for us! It was absolutely amazing.

Loved Juenau. Went on the dog sled excursion. It was expensive, but worth it for me because I love dogs. I'm not sure everyone would enjoy it. It's a 2 mile dog sled ride with lots of others, then a few tents with historical artifacts, cookies, and a tour guide. Then a bit of time to hold and play with the sled dog puppies (2 to share with the whole group). My favorite was whale watching. We got lucky and saw orcas along with hump backs.

This port we did the 5 glacier seaplane and salmon feast. It was awesome. We saw bear as soon as we walked up the hill after getting off plane. We hiked to a waterfall the food was great and a glacier is right there to view

In Juneau we did a city tour and then went to Mendenhall Glacier. While there we took a two mile hike ( round trip) to the most amazing glacier fed waterfall! It was so powerful that you could feel the cold water spray from a good distance. The glacier was incredible!
