Tender service was horrible! This caused problems for everyone - especially those who booked excursions.

Nice port. Plenty of different things to do. We did the Mendenhall Glacier and Whale watching. Rainy day but saw plenty of whales. Not a spectacular day for view in the glacier but still nice.

Next stop was Juneau. We hired a car here through Juneau Car Rentals, walking to the office from the ship. It took about 20 minutes or so. We drove to the Mendenhall Glacier first. This is beautiful! It is well worthwhile to walk to Nugget Falls as you will get a closer view of the glacier from there, together with the waterfall. We later drove to St. Theresa’s Shrine which was lovely although there was a heavy mist there which shrouded the scenery. We spent the afternoon rambling around Juneau which is a pretty town. By the way, we got wifi in the library adjacent to the dock. The library is located on the fourth floor of the building.

This was a nice city but was my least favorite since it is a larger city being the capital of Alaska. It is where all the glaciers are though and we did take a helicopter and landed on one which was truly spectacular...one of the trip highlights

The port itself was fantastic, as usual. We don't book excursions in advance; on this trip we just bought tickets to the Tram and explored the top of the mountain a bit, then walked around town for shopping and to hit the Red Dog Saloon. There was an incredibly long line to get off the ship here; so much so that I actually waited 30 minutes longer before getting in line as it stretched all the way around the atrium and down the length of the ship to the Vista Lounge.

Great, went to Mendenhall Glacier, to a free Quilt Show, had beer and lunch at the Alaskan Brewery on outside of town.

Juneau is beautiful, and the Mendenhall Glacier was a fun thing to see. We also took the tram up the hill and hiked around, and the views from that hike were incredible, overlooking the whole water way and downtown Juneau. The russion dumplings were great too, and it was easy to get around.

While we didn't spend a lot of time in the port, the Wale watching excursion and tour of the area was interesting. While we were not lucky enough to see many Whales, we applaud the naturalists we spent time with and their efforts to provide a memorable experience.
