You will want to do a tour here. There's really not much to see at the port. We did a combo tour that included whale watching and brown bear search. Saw whales, but no brown bears. Still a good day.

Again, amazed that cruisers outnumbered locals. The locals we did meet and talk with were very friendly, pleasant and helpful, despite the demands of some of the tourists.

Went on a bear search tour, short walk half way to Hoonah, and walked the shops. Probably the least interesting stop of the cruise for us.

We dis the ziprider, which is the only excursion we booked through the cruiseline since they catered to the cruiselines first and we didn’t want to miss it. It was absolutely amazing and super enjoyable. I highly recommend it. After that we walked around the port area. We wanted to take the bus into town, but couldn’t find it. We walked along the beach and saw tons of starfish. It was a pretty stop and we all enjoyed it.
