Enjoyed a little bit of time in the old salmon cannery and the museum-like treatment around all the sales racks and kiosks; chartered a private whale-watching boat with James and Andrew - plenty of humpbacks, eagles, sea otters, a sea lion

World's fastest zip rider! Exciting and a great time. My daughter did the teen excursion of this. Whale watching was not quite what I expected (expecting a smaller boat) but we did see a humpback whale and a pod of Orcas!

There is plenty to do if you are willing to do excursions or have a more relaxing day. It was pretty nice with some bouts of light rain while we were there. Went kayaking which was fun and a nice way to see some points of interest between icy strait point and Hoonah. The nature trail is pretty but very short (10 minute walk).

Icy Strait is much less touristy than Ketchikan. We had excellent crab legs, then went on the BEST.WHALEWATCH.EVER with Alaska Galore Tours. It was jaw dropping. We decided we would never do another whale watch because we couldn't top this one. Icy Strait is pretty small but the walk to Hoonah is beautiful.

Saw several whales where ship was tendered. Don't waste your time going to Hoonah.

Great choice, although we would have liked to have had more time.

Saw lots of whale activity by walking to Hoonah instead of riding the bus. When leaving the port be on your balcony or some place you can watch the whales

Small port but good shopping. Went on Whale watching cruise. Primarily saw Orcas and one humpback whale. Very much fun.

Loved Icey Straight. We had beautiful weather and decided to to walk the nature trail. This port is truely the "True Alaska". Loved the shops. One must... is to make sure you always ask which stores are locally owned.
