Wrong spelling on ticket

Hope someone can help with this urgent matter have a cruise booked through Cruise Nation for the 25th Oct 18 had noticed a spelling mistake on my elderly mothers surname it’s just one letter they put a T instead of a K. Have been emailing and phoning them and to cut a very long story short it will cost my poor mum £798 to get it changed they say it’s out of their hands it’s the airlines. We are starting in Ireland then Heathrow then Charollete then Miami and a cruise with MSC. Would she be able to just go and hope for the best or pay this high ransom thanks Katrina

I would call the airline and ask them if it's a problem. If it is ask them if they can fix it. They may be able to. I recently started the check in process for our Alaskan Cruise. I asked my mom how to spell her middle name (I was 99.99% positive I knew how to spell it just wanted to make sure.) I would think if it's on the cruise document then it really wouldn't matter.

It’s only been a few hours so maybe she’s been busy, time difference etc. Hopefully she will get back and tell everyone what the outcome was.

I agree but I hope so.

I get the feeling we may never get "the end of the story"....

I have been able to call the airline and get it changed after I misspelled my own name. It was a week or so after booking but it was no problem. I would definitely go with the actual airline and then the cruise line. Hope it all works out for you.

I would call the airline and see if it really is a problem. Recently my husband had a Mrs. put in front of his name & there was no mention of it when checking in at the airline or the cruise.

She has 12 days (or less) to try to fix it........and Im guessing that since it starts in Ireland that's where she is...with the paperwork...I still don't know where the error is exactly, but if her docs were ALL prepared by her "TA", then I'd bet they are ALL wrong....what a nightmare...how about calling the airline direct, then MSC cruises...I think in that order....this must happen occasionally.....

That is outrageous. If a mistake is made and you have notified them then they are mandated to change that and there should be no extra or maybe a minimal admin charge for doing so. If you are getting no satisfaction there I would try involving the local Better Business Bureau or even reach out to the press. They love roasting companies for things such as this.

When travelling from Canada, all documents must match the names and information on the passport, which has to match the drivers licence and Birth certificate. Airline tickets are the most important. I am surprised they want to charge you on your cruise documents. Can you not just go into your profile and change it?

Our TA has electronic and hard copies for all our legal documents. She takes care of all travel need, even local flights and such. All we have to do is meet up or call and describe what we need and it's done.

The value of a top notch TA is apparent when things can and will go wrong.

And for the sake of honesty, (since occasionally she reads this thing)...it was me that misspelled her middle name...since I was the one who pounded the keys....now she's been doing the entries for our cruises, and I stay far away.....
