When and why did you try another cruise line?

I've been toying around with trying another cruise line. I love Royal, don't get me wrong, and I just made platinum, but part of me wouldn't mind sampling another line (if the price is right).

Problem is my BF is hard headed and is focused on building our status with RCI.

When did ya'll decide to try a different line (if you have) and why?

Variety is the spice of life I truly believe. We started with Carnival when money was a major concern for my family. Later after the kids grew up & we only had two fares to pay, we traveled with all the other major lines - Cunard, Home, MSC, Princess, HAL,Celebrity, RCCL and Norwegian. Now we prefer HAL. Still *I would enjoy going on other cruise lines just for variety. Someday I want to try the new Viking cruise ships.

Sounds like price is a factor for many... I want to try a few more, or them all... Whichever my budget and life will allow... I look forward to the day I can just spend my life cruising. Probably cheaper than a home or apartment.

I do have my favorites, but I still want to try Cunard and may give Princess another try (20 years ago food was not good) I'm also curious to try MSC.......... not sure I want to try Costa Big Smile

Srjohnson - itinerary often drives our cruise selection, but we have become quite attached to Princess so I'm starting to think that will be the driver for cruise choice.

We started with Carnival doing a B2B with family. We really do like where they go to. This time we are going with Princess because it had the itinerary we wanted. My next cruise is a mother/daughter cruise on Carnival. It mostly depends on when we can go and what we want to do.

I hope you enjoy. Totola is great. If you have not yet made plans I would suggest taking the ferry to Virgin Gorda and going to the Baths. A very memorable place and one of my favourite excursions.

We've almost always gone on Carnival but we are trying NCL this time because we got a good deal, it is a relatively new ship & it goes to Tortola which we have never been to. Eventually I want to try RCI, Princess & Celebrity. It may turn out that we end up liking Carnival the best but I want to try the other lines to find out.

We have stayed with Carnival because of the price, and we like the more relaxed atmosphere it seems to have compared to what we've read about other lines. The loyalty program is insignificant.

We travel between three most of the time. But we will try others if the price is right.

Hopefully I can get him to try a different line. I am big on itineraries and want to explore a lot, and I know one cruise won't go everywhere.... We will have to wait and see.
