So sad! Hope the children are safe. I put a thumbs up, but that’s for sharing the information.

Haiti is one itinerary I would avoid, even without cruising. An associate of mine has been building villages there with his church for years. They have not been able to go there for a few years now, the last information was that the village and orphanage were burned to the ground by "rebels or insurgents" not sure who or why.

I wouldn't go there no how no way...the last time I was in a place like that I was wearing a green suit, well armed, amongst other grunts similarly attired...and it was perfectly fine to shoot first...thats what I was paid to do, and expected to do......any grumbling by touristas about it well....file it....

Safety is the most important thing. It may be frustrating for those who really wanted to visit the DR ports, but probably a wise choice.

Haiti seems to be a real slopshow right now. I have heard during the initial post-COVID months, RCI hired mercenaries...ahem....security contractors...to re-take Labadee from the locals. There are videos out there of black helicopters landing on the pier helipad, and fast boats beaching, loaded with...Security contractors...who took back the area, reportedly without firing a shot.

I wasnt a huge fan of Labadee when we went last year, especially in comparison to Cococay. We're scheduled to go again in December...I can say I wouldn't be disappointed if we went somewhere else instead.
