Roll Calls Disappearing from site ?

Is it just me or does it seem like every time you book a cruise and you join your Roll Call, to meet people ahead of time, All of a Sudden the Roll Call goes Silent. I know there are " Other " sites but not everyone is associated with or uses those " Other " sites. Who decides to move it and why ? If you join one, keep it going. Not all of us are 20 years old and live with a cell phone attached to our ear 24/7.

I try not to get too chatty on the ones I have. About every two weeks I will post even if I was the last one to post. It is an acceptable way to talk to yourself.ðWink

Thats about the size of it Auntie. for the longest time, the thing was glitchy...I didn't get any email notifications of anyone posting...that was FINALLY fixed. (Thanks again Auntie) I usually have a few cruises booked sometimes way ahead, but I usually only join the roster for the next one upcoming...don't want to confuzzle the puter in here...not that it matters much, I notice there isn't much activity on a given roster until about 2-3 months out...and then you get alot of "Im going..can't wait" stuff anyway. (uh, we kinda figured you're going, thats why you joined that roster to begin with right?) The way the thing is structured it isn't conducive to any kind of "conversation" anyway. Folks ask a question and theres no way to link your answer to it. What amazes me most of all are the questions some folks ask about a cruise they can't wait to take, probably paid a fortune for, but have made no arrangements to get there, no clue about boarding, excursions, dining etc etc..Even when within a few weeks of the cruise, sometimes theres hardly any activity...I don't understand it...mebbe the whole thing is geared towards folks with cell phones hermetically attached as the OP opined...could be...

How to fix it?

Ive only been around Shipmate/ since just before my 2nd last cruise. Both of these cruises were RCI "Small Ship" cruises (Majesty and Empress) and the roll calls seemed to be...well dead.

For Empress in January 2018, there were 3 posts, from 3 different people. For Majesty last month, there were 7 posts, from 4 different people(4 posts from myself  )

Looking back to our cruise on Allure in 2017, there seemed to be many more posts, however, it seems that when some people actually checked into the rollcall, it sent the entire group a message.

Now looking forward to our cruise on Symphony next spring, there are 3 posts, from 3 different people, one of which is directing people to a Facebook group for the cruise.

I have a small group phone interview on Wednesday to be a Ambassador, and this was something I had intended to mention. Perhaps we'll see some changes in the future!

Well I have a couple suggestions...fix this party so that folks can PM each cell needed. (Or Facebook for that matter)This is the first group that I have been active or in long term to where that feature doesn't exist. and its PITA....And fix Rosters so that peeps can have something like a "conversation"...posts are arranged in a "tree" when responding to someone.

This is why I joined "shipmate". It is where you can have a conversation with a fellow "shipmate" member.

Can I join shipmate and use ONLY my pc?

I don't think so.

Well that was the point the OP was making..Im not "attached" to my cell either. Matter of fact, to me its an emergency tool...don't feel the compulsion to be constantly attached or reachable. The idea of being able to PM someone is old school...and it works. I seem to remember this subject came up a long time ago, and the reasoning was the same..."use your cell, get SHIPMATE" thanks...
