Roll Calls Disappearing from site ?

Is it just me or does it seem like every time you book a cruise and you join your Roll Call, to meet people ahead of time, All of a Sudden the Roll Call goes Silent. I know there are " Other " sites but not everyone is associated with or uses those " Other " sites. Who decides to move it and why ? If you join one, keep it going. Not all of us are 20 years old and live with a cell phone attached to our ear 24/7.

What it proves to me KENN, is that staying "on top of things" takes effort, and it almost ALWAYS pays off..Folks who don't can pay as much, or more, and get less, and not even know it. The internet for me is the greatest time saver and information retrieval tool ever invented...NO I can't get the puter to do quads, triple axels or loop de loops...but man, when I want to learn something or get reservations or book something nothing beats it. Couple that with the occasional phone call (especially AFTER doing some research) the person Im talking to generally gets the point that despite popular belief, not every caller is a total dodo...its a whole different conversation...and...sometimes you discover YOU know more about the issue that the REP....

And yes, THAT is one hellacious cruise you got planned!!!

Wow, Kennicott! Good for you! It will be fun hearing all about it when you get back!

I'm not sure at all how they work the Roll Calls here anymore. I'm like Yankee, don't use the cell for anything other than phone calls and time. I use the PC at home and laptop when I travel. But I'm not sure if the problem comes from being too geared to smart phones or not. For instance, after much hassle and waiting we finally booked our next cruise, one that we have wanted for a long time. A 35 day, Nov 14th 2020, starting in Tahiti and ending in FLL. What I like about it is that it does Easter Island and I get to see (see only no landing) Pitcairn (Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and also maybe can do an excursion to Machu Picchu out of Lisbon. I had to get up early on Tuesday to book the category cabin we wanted, we got a 24 hour head start due to loyalty status but even then barely made it. Booking opened at 9:00 AM PST (8:00 AM here), I called our CVP three times, once four days prior then two hours prior, left another message 5 minutes prior, she called at 8:00 AM my time and when she hung up minutes later, everything was sold out in that category. So, I'm really paying attention to what others say on the Roll Calls this time with respect to voyage in general and in particular to Machu Picchu excursions. So far the latest Pacific Princess Roll Call here is in Sept 2020. On Brand X the first Roll Call posting was within an hour after booking opening and so far there have been 42 posts.

Plans are to be in Colorado Springs 8/17-24...…..gonna try to get away from the heat/humidity...this is an "exploratory" road trip.

Sorry to everyone for hijacking this thread, but sometimes I just can't help myself. There isn't a thread that says "Let's meet up somewhere other than the forum or on a cruise". Wink

Yankee47, if we end up going to the Festival outside of Houston this Fall I'll let you know.... maybe then unless you come to CO this Summer. Anyone else coming this Summer is also welcome to visit me at the Colorado Renaissance Festival.

well, on second thought, then my wife would chase ME around, and Im not nearly as fast or slim as I used to be...she would catch me, and things would get oogly...and YOU would probably be in charge of the Royal Court that tried her..and found her not guilty in record time...me? somewhere out in the weeds unknown, pieces here n there......hehehe

I am sure there might be!?!

If I did, I'd probably come dressed like some kind of Visigoth...gotta keep that barbarian rep y'know!!!! make off with all the fair maidens///there ARE still some of those around? yuk yuk

If you know we are on the same sailing, I’m sure we will set up a meeting location. I tried to get you to the Renaissance Festival outside of Dallas, but you didn’t show.Wink

Right ….I'm the guy who looks like a seahorse with its feet...err...tail...or whatever on the rail with the "I don't care bout nuthin" look on my err...face...wait...that sort of describes bout most of any given cruise passengers...not counting the sea horse part...or....mebbe it does..hehehe
