PRINCESS EZair

Surprise ...first time ever that the airfare on Princess' EZair was significantly lower than my usual Southwest Airlines fare to Fort Lauderdale! I have always checked it but previously find them to be $50-$100 higher.

Lucky for you. It usually doesn't work out this way.

The site gives you numerous options for flight times / days etc. You still choose your own. It's the late arrival protection I like.

We haven't done this in recent years but when we first started cruising we did... and... we were always booked at early morning going out (but did include hotel the day before) and late sailing returning. We prefer to book our own.

Well as long as you know the carrier and what you are getting into... I've just heard some horror stories.. Happy flying!

The flight is on American Airlines...and the same flight was $85 more on AA site. With Southwest, 2 bags free so I did include price of luggage on American. Again, I have compared this site every cruise and it has never been lower.

I believe the biggest perk with going through the cruise line is the guarantee to get you on your cruise. Booking on your own means you are on your own if flights are cancelled or late. Booking through the cruise line's air partner comes with a guarantee to get you on underway via other flights if necessary so you can get on your voyage. Of course, there are somethings even a guarantee cannot include (e.g., horrific blizzard and not flights in the air) but accounts I've read have been pretty positive about good outcomes from less than positive circumstances.

When we finally run out of FF miles, we'll probably give EZAir a try.

On our last cruise we booked through the cruise line and got a good deal.

I'm always a little hessitant with the air the cruise line has... Not sure what line it is, or something I've never heard... You never know if it is a quality air line, any hidden fees or what.

Agreed, booking air separate from your cruise is usually a better value, but every once in a while the cruise line surprises us with a good deal on air!

Working with an agent is great but frankly I take a great deal of time making up my mind when where and how I am going so I prefer doing the research myself. I may stay 2 or three days before and after, I may fly elsewhere - there are so many variables that affect my travel plans most travel agents have never been able to give me adequate options without acting like "make up your mind" Perhaps you will be different ...
