People who complain of variety?????????????

In my real world of life outside of a yearly cruise. I read forums to always learn. I'll never understand when people state there is no variety on the Buffet's???? Are they serious? My daily routine at home and work life is depending on when I'm working its coffee for breakfast and out the door, a small lunch then dinner. No variety I Ask??? Are people serious? On a ship there is all kinds of dishes from toast to all kinds of eggs, beef, cereals juices and the list goes on and on... Guess my question is... Do you at home wake up with a variety like on a ship? Doubt it.

Better read the IRS code related to cruise ships that are not US Registered vessels ...are you a published author or is it a hobby?

Sounds aggravating. We are travelling LIGHT (oversized purse and "man satchel") and I'm hoping ours goes smoother - but either way - it should be good for an article (or two) - and then it's tax deductible (at least half of it)Big Smile

I took a shuttle from Bellingham WA to Vancouver and the problem was clearing customs when crossing the border (had to remove luggage, walk thru, reboard shuttle). Then, the port made me clear customs out of Canada (with luggage in hand) and reclear customs for the US to board the ship. These were on two different levels and required a lot of walking ...

What I thought would be simple, was a long frustrating experience ... my cruise continued on after the 3 day jaunt from Vancouver so it was worth it in the long run ...

My mistake (first post of the morning) - we LOVE Victoria - but you are right - these trips are Vancouver/Seattle and visa versa. We checked out Amtrak and Greyhound - cost as much as the cruise. Shuttle is the way to go - it takes you to the ship.

I didn't ask "how much can you be scammed in one day" ... Your profile shows Vancouver to Seattle so not sure how you're shuttling to and fro from Victoria... Good luck embarking in Vancouver - it was a nightmare when I did it...

My point is that the cost involved in a one day cruise has only made sense for me if I am continuing on a back-to-back ... otherwise it just doesn't pay ...

Fair question. I write on the side - and have always wanted to peel back the onion on travel options. My two Princess trips are basically "overnighters" Seattle to Victoria and back. We've got a super cheap inside cabin, cruising to the destination and taking a shuttle back - then in a few weeks doing the same thing in reverse. Anytime dining. No frills. And after this? The next two cruises are on the far other end of the scale. And to your question - how much can you be scammed in one day? We'll see...

Don't confuse variety for individuals with meal variety - particularly in the main dining room and specialty restaurants. The variety in the main dining room includes variety for different cultures/regions, many of which don't appeal to everyone. I've been on 25-30 cruises and find majority of people eat the same 1-2 entrees every night, although there is variety on the menu, To many people, a choice of lamb, sushi, eggplant, or lobster, means "I'll have the steak again." Not the cruise lines fault. Just many people expect, say, a variety of steaks.

He's on the mend ... able to eat the waffles ... one more appt and he'll be back to normal!

And soup for the hubby because he can't chew.

Made me hungry too ... I'm making Belgium waffles right now ...
