And veterinary terms too...
Just a fancy way of saying a horse's rear.
Ooooooo............. fancy medical terms.
Showboat.
Anything coming out of the government is more likely to be from the equine posterior, rather than the oral sphincter.
Returned from last cruise mid March, next cruise booked for Iceland late June. As of June we would have less than 6 months validity on passport we had to renew prior to next cruise. Our experience is likely out of the norm for these days. We submitted our passports and payment mid March on the day we returned requesting expedited service (additional $60) and overnight return mail (I think extra $18). Just received new passports in under 4 weeks!! We also renewed Global Entry this year with no interview and a 48 hr turnaround. I quess we're just lucky!
Thank you! I noticed this was from 2020, do you think the time required is way different now?
Nope...can't seem to find anything official, so I don't know where that 9 month to a year came from either, but it seems to be all over. If it was mine or hers and we had the "slack" between needing it, I'd renew anywhere during that 9-12 month time frame.. As far as how long it takes...based on some friends of mine about 6 months ago, plus posts in here, 3 months seems about right....just keep a bunch of buspar handy..maybe some jack to wash it down with....

Seems the most readable I've found..and given others experiences, I'd say about 3 months...but depending on where you're going, you may not need one...start doing your own research on the docs you can use instead...good luck..

I frantically check mail everyday (even on Sundays) setting an alarm so I'm sure to be at the box before the mail delivery person arrives so I can wrestle the daily load from their hands to grab mine so I can be certain the envelope doesn't make it's way into the wrong box, but alas - have not laid my hands on the invite.
So, please do not interpret lack of acceptance as declining - we happily accept offer of an all expense paid cruise and will surely reciprocate when we return from collecting the lottery winnings. ðð¤ð
Off now to dust the suitcase...
Folks have been known to leave their passports IN their luggage too...wrapped in their dirty clothes....hmmmmmm......
Well there must be some kind of confusion at your abode...got YOUR invite, and accepted immediately...who's driving your bus anyway?? heheheheh

Good question...Found several sites that say 9 months but they didn't look "official". Then I got lost in the actual US GOVT site. I seem to remember we did ours right at a year prior to expiration, and it took about 3 months but that was back in the day. I'm reasonably sure a year is about right in answer to your question...but if someone can find an official answer, i'd like to read it myself. REMEMBER...some countries, some cruiselines want your passport to be valid for AT LEAST six months before "use"....
That's been my problem - I haven't been able to find an " official" answer and seem to go down a rabbit hole when looking on the US site. Renewals, replacements, damaged books, time to receive...everything except how far in advance one can submit for renewal. Given the time it currently takes to receive, I would like to know so I submit then.
Does anyone have an idea how long it would take to REPLACE a passport? A cruise friend has lost her passport during a move and now we aren't sure if we should book a cruise this year at all.
