NCL cancels cruise

The GEM was supposed to leave NY tomorrow. Technical (mechanical) issues have caused the cancellation of that cruise. I feel bad for those who were booked and looking forward to this trip. I believe everyone was flown to NY from the Caribbean as she could no longer safely sail. Hopefully she will only be out of commission for one week.

It is always sad when thing like this happen.

The saga continues for those unable to fly back..an estimated 90-100 folks. NCL secured 10 cabins on a Royal Caribbean ship schedule to dock in Barbados on Monday Nov 13, 2017 and will arrive in Ft. Laud Nov 16, 2017. Amtrak back to NYC from there. All rooms now filled, with NCL looking for additional passage for remaining passengers.

Yeah .. quite a few news articles on it

Ouch .. feel bad for those that were hoping to sail on next cancelled cruise

I read that too. What a serious downer. But it does sound like NCL is trying to do the right thing for those effected. It's amazing to me that there are not more technical issues with these ships as they run constantly with very short breaks every few years in dry dock.
